  • Wayúu backpacks are mainly made of wild cotton or acrylic, spun using a technique similar to crochet, and occasionally with other materials such as fique, wool, or bristles. They should be washed by hand with cold water and mild soap (preferably liquid) and without using bleach, brushes, or washing machines.

    Materials
    Main: Wild cotton or acrylic.
Occasionally: Fique, wool, bristles, horsehair, or palm leaves.
    How to wash them
Hand wash: Use cold water and mild soap (liquid to avoid residue) to gently rub the backpack with your hands. Avoid brushes so as not to damage the thread.
Rinse: Rinse with clean water until there is no soap residue left.
Avoid chemicals: Do not use bleach or acids that can damage the colors.
Drying: Allow to air dry in the shade in a clear area. Do not use a dryer.

    Additional tips
Drying tassels: To preserve the shape of the tassels, you can comb them with your fingers or a fine-toothed comb.
Be careful with weight: Do not overload the backpack to prevent the straps from stretching and the base from deforming.
Sharp objects: Avoid storing sharp objects inside that could tear the fabric.
Stain removal: If there is a stain, treat it immediately with a damp cloth and a little diluted mild soap, rinse well, and air dry.
